Since James Baldwin is on our minds, I checked the Evening Star newspaper to see if I could find evidence of him in DC.  A quick search didn't yield anything, but I did find that Baldwin was on the minds of at least some Washingtonians in August 1968.

On 14 August, Baldwin's Tell Me How Long the Train's Been Gone, originally published in 1968 by Dial Press, was featured on Book Beat, a program on WETA TV, one of the area's public broadcasting station, founded in 1961..  To see a 1st edition copy of the book, click here.

I am going to contact WETA to see if they have an accessible copy of the program.

Do you remember Book Beat?

Have you read Tell Me How Long the Train's Been Gone?
