visual aesthetics of 1968

I want to create a poster and logo for dc1968.  I want the visual aesthetics of 1968 accented with the contemporary.  What would that entail?

When I think of art aesthetics for that time period, I think of the vibrant colors and lines of Alma Thomas' paintings, the colors and shapes of silkscreened posters by Lloyd McNeill and Lou Stovall.

The piece above, Untitled, is by Sam Gilliam, who has been working as an artist in the city since the mid-1950s. It is one of many works in the collection of the Archives of American Art.

I also think of the handwritten black-and-white flyers that advertised meetings, rallies and marches. The political posters and buttons.

What else should I be looking at to get a fuller view of the visual aesthetics of 1968?
