I just read a review of Jordan Peele's Get Out.  (ok. yes.  I'm the only adult in the U.S. who hasn't seen it yet because I don't do horror movies.)  The reviewer mentions Night of the Living Dead as an influence on Peele's work and that it came out in 1968.

I had no idea!

The film premiered here on the 6th or 8th of November and as the Evening Star warns in the ad above, audiences were going to be "frightened to death."

The film was shown at the Atlas (13th & H, NE); Congress (also Congress Heights, 2913 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE); Senator (3946-3956 Minnesota Ave, NE); Sheridan (6217 Georgia Ave NW); and Tivoli (3333 14th St NW) theaters.

Did you see Night of the Living Dead at one of these theaters?  Do you still have a ticket stub?

In 2015, the DC Independent Film Festival received a grant from DCPL for a Sheridan Theater oral history project. I'm going to reach out to DCIFF. Read about this on Cinematic Treasures site.
