moorland-spingarn research ctr releases 6,000 digitized negatives
The Moorland-Spingarn Research Center at Howard University has just released more than 6,000 digitized negatives on their Digital Howard platform. Collections include Dr. Dorothy Ferebee and Dr. Alain Locke. Check out the negatives here.
The Moorland-Spingarn Research Center has a phenomenal collection of photographs, manuscripts, books, vertical files and more that cover the U.S. and the diaspora. You can get an intro to this voluminous collection on the Digital Howard platform.
I'll be going there soon to finish looking through the Hilltop newspaper.
Moorland=Spingarn is located on the main campus, off of Georgia Avenue, on Howard Place, across from the Banneker Recreation Center and Field, in Founders Library--the one with the clock tower. The Manuscripts Division, Photographs and University Archives, located in the basement, require an appointment. The Library, located on the 1st floor, does not require an appointment. You can view dissertations, the Hilltop on microfilm, yearbooks and vertical files and more in the Library.
Please note that identification is required to enter the building and to view materials.
