30 october 1968 & dick gregory dollar bill

#OTD 30 October 1968 The Dick Gregory for President dollar bill was in circulation throughout the U.S. It was an advertising campaign to let voters know that Dick Gregory was a write-in candidate with the Freedom & Peace Party in the upcoming presidential election campaign on 5 November 1968. The vice-presidential candidate was Mark Lane, white.

Dick Gregory is quoted as saying that 1 million of these dollar bills were in circulation in 1968.

What was written on the dollar bill?

“YOUR VOTE IS LEGAL, SACRED AND PRIVATE”

“CANNOT BE BOUGHT, SOLD OR TRADED”

Notice the peace symbol.

Your comments are welcome below. Do you, family members and neighbors remember the advertising campaign? Do you have a dollar bill? Did you vote in the 1968 presidential election? What do you remember about Dick Gregory in 1968? You may comment privately here.
