5 april 1968 & howard students mourn and protest assassination of king
#OTD Friday 5 April 1968 Howard University students mourn and protest assassination of Dr. King in front of the Douglass building. It was one of a number of responses, in addition to the uprising.
The signs state:
"NONVIOLENCE WAS KILLED WITH MARTIN LUTHER KING. NO CLASSES"
"AMERICA WAS MURDERED LAST NIGHT"
"NONVIOLENT BROTHER KING MURDERED BY VIOLENT WHITE MEN"
"THE DREAM DEFERRED. ARE YOU READY NIGGER"
"OUR LAST KING IS SLAIN"
"NO CLASS. BROTHER MARTIN IS DEAD"
"3 BLACK GIRLS. EVERS. MALCOLM X. KING. WHEN IS IT GOING TO STOP"
WHO IS NEXT? WILL IT BE ALL OF US?
