#OTD 20 July 1968 Jazz lovers were still buzzing about Shirley Horn's performance at the New Thing Jazz Workshop at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church (Bancroft Place & Connecticut Ave, NW) on Tuesday 16 July. Horn, a pianist, and singer was the featured performer at the weekly concert. The New Thing Jazz Workshop was hosted by the New Thing Art and Architecture Center. The concerts, held at 8pm, cost $1.

Shirley Horn, who was born here and lived here, usually performed with her trio. She was a frequent performer at Bohemian Caverns (2001 11th St, NW) and the Showboat Lounge (2477 18th St, NW).
