tour: carter g woodson national historic site

The Carter G. Woodson National Historic Site will be open for special tours 21-23 April 2017 during National Park Week.  The site, the former home of Carter G Woodson and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, is at 1538 Ninth Street, NW.

For information about special tour reservations, call 202.690.5152. You can also click here for more information.

More than 20 years ago, I worked @ASALH.  I worked with Dr. Bettye Gardner, who has been  brilliant and consistent in her work toward amplifying Woodson, his house and ASALH.  Gail Hansberry was executive director of the organization then.

I remember going into Woodson's home and helping to box up the many volumes of books that were throughout the house.

I look forward to visiting the site now that it's been renovated.
