29 september 1968 & black and proud

#OTD-ish 29 September 1968 John Ferrell, a McKinley Tech student, wears a “Black and Proud” hat. According to Wikipedia, James Brown’s “Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud” was released as a single in August 1968. Brown and Alfred (Pee Wee) Ellis co-wrote the song. Perhaps the song was the inspiration for the hat.
