#OTD 22 October 1968 The African Heritage Dancers and Drummers were the featured performers at the New Thing’s weekly concert series at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church (Connecticut Ave & Bancroft Pl, NW).

Melvin Deal, founder of the African Heritage Dancers and Drummers, worked directly with the New Thing Art & Architecture Center, offering dancing and drumming classes at one of its sites in Adams Morgan.
